The first time I consciously remember seeing Kristy was on a walk on the Westcoast led by Jonathan Caddy. I took note of this bright-eyed, beautiful, lively young woman and enjoyed her being there. It was sometime in 2004 or 2005.
Thereafter our paths just crossed in so many ways big and small. She did my very first carbon footprint assessment when doing a project for TTF. We met during community events, when shopping - and there was always a brief interaction, a big smile, an open heart connection.
And then in December 2021 we finally did work on a project together. She took over the bulk compost order which I had been doing for a few years to support home gardeners. Emails flying back and forth, networks activated, organisation and finance ... a very different experience of Kristy, and what a joy!
The last time I saw Kristy was on the 7th February when she single-handedly unloaded 1 ton of bulk compost here at Caldeonia - wow! I couldn't really grasp how she could do it, knowing that she already had done all that shovelling to fill the trailer back at TTF. She did it with a great smile and assured me that she relished the job, as she felt she needed some grounding.
It is hard to imagine a world where I won't enjoy these chance encounters with Kristy! It seems like one sunray is missing.
God speed on your journey onwards, Kristy! I know your love and light will carry you gracefully. xxx
