In Life of the Community
I met Kristy at a women's group in Findhorn over 15 years ago. I didn't know many people in the area yet and was so grateful to her and the other wonderful women I met there and over the next few years. Kristy contributed to my wildlife and nature connection holidays bringing her love of nature and wealth of skills, teaching me and my guests nettle cordage and exploring the river Findhorn together. Our friendship developed and grew in love and strength, with Kristy being one of the few women I call sister. We lived and worked together for almost four years at Newbold where her kindness, clarity, integrity and warmth were so important to me and all the other staff, volunteers and guests. After leaving I always hoped I would have the chance to live with her again someday as she was just such a wonderful person to be around. I have happy memories of campfires by the river and Findhorn Bay, dancing in the ballroom at Newbold, sitting in many meetings and check ins together, working to hold beautiful community events and chatting about our day across the garden from the door of her yurt to my little sit spot outside my caravan. I remember one time when I was feeling a bit heart broken about some love interest gone wrong, we found out there was a big motorbike rally happening in Aviemore, and realising we both had a love of bikes took off for a day (with Karen too) of bike oggling and beer drinking - quite the departure from Newbold! When I got married at Newbold in 2017 Kristy was one of the women who walked with me down the 'aisle'. And since I left the Forres area she has come to visit me in Devon - keeping our ropes of connection strong. I will miss her steady presence in my life so much, her loving voice just checking in and beaming love across the airwaves.
